1) Did you take part in Torfaen's on-line active travel engagement in 2020/2021?
2) Are we correct in our assessment of routes that already meet the agreed standards (existing routes)?
2a) If you answered no or maybe to question 2, which route assessments do you think are incorrect and why?
Every route that I have tried has a point at which it is not accessible for a wheelchair user as there are points at which there is an absence of dropped curbs, these are also an issue for cyclists and people pushing prams. Many of the routes will be very dangerous to use for pedestrians and wheelchair users as they are not sufficiently wide for the shared use with cyclists, partly due to poor maintenance of hedges. I am also concerned that many of the routes are too steep for anyone but the fittest cyclists and therefore will not achieve the target of increasing active travel.
3) Do you think the network of proposed (future) routes shown on this map will encourage you to walk/cycle more for everyday journeys?
3a) If you answered no or maybe to question 3, what else would help you change your current short car journeys to walking and cycling?
Completely accessible routes with dropped curbs, safe cambers and gradients that will be wide enough for shared use and properly maintained.
4) Are there routes missing from the proposed network that would help you make every-day active travel journeys?
4a) If you answered yes to question 4, please provide details
A safe route to the Crematorium. A safe route to the Grange, that is well lit, the current route through the underpass is uninviting and doesn't feel safe for a lone woman to use. An accessible route to The Stadium, dropped curbs are missing from the bus stop on Henllys Way to the Stadium, forcing wheelchair users onto the dangerous road.
5) Do you have any additional comments regarding walking and cycling facilities or active travel policy that you would like Torfaen to consider?
I do not feel that the needs of all potential users of the active travel routes have been considered, the survey isn't accessible to anyone with additional needs. The questions are unclear and needed clear explanations to give meaningful responses, the interactive map is difficult to use for anyone with sight or coordination issues. The consultation should have been available in additional formats.

Ty Coch Lane from Pentre Lane to Llantarnam Park Way and also Old Newport Road from Newport Road, Lower New Inn to Tre-Herbert Road

I don’t think many of the existing routes meet the design standards set by Welsh Government for active travel routes. Mainly because of shared use, narrow width, excessive gradients, lack of flow at junctions. These are all factors which will discourage people who are not already keen cyclists.
It is great to see so many new routes being planned, but if the plan is to simply widen pavements or paint lines on roads, this will not encourage mass participation in active travel. Careful consideration needs to be given to the design standards, especially segregation of cycling and walking surfaces - don’t just aim for the bare minimum standard, this will waste public money. The other major factor is secure bike storage in shopping areas at places of work, and at transport hubs
Where there are steep gradients (above 3%) designers need to get creative and not just change existing footpaths/roads
TCBCCINM33 the route next to Cwmbran Stadium the lights are currently not working and it's very dark to walk through now the evenings are getting darker
